January 8, 2009 - Monthly pic (long overdue...)
January 8th, 2009Alright, it's (spoiler-free) Shiki Misaki from The World Ends With You!

I just gave up on drawing it in the game's proportion, 'cause trying to make the waist smaller than her head and whatnot just threw off my balance. I still half attempted it though, and I admit I OD'd on the lining. (XD that was fun!)
I think what really put me off was her in-game outfit, so I drew her in the following "threads":

And I just remembered, I totally forgot Mr. Mew!
October 3, 2008 - In the Rain
October 3rd, 2008This month's pic has a rain theme. Like I said before, the raining is implied through her accessories
. Lazy coloring as usual (awful shading)!

*sigh* ... A lot happened today.
The good part is, I got lots of mail today. My BAF jewellery order came when I wasn't expecting it for another week or two. I'm gonna stretch my earlobes just a little more, to 6G.
My R4DS from nxpgames arrived as well. I feel guilty about buying it, so I've been trying to make myself feel better by blaming it on the economy... I'll still spend a shitload of money on games though, probably more on Wii games to lessen the guilt.
The sad news is my relative in Vietnam died. He was a kind old man, the sweetest elderly person I've ever met (seriously, some old folks have attitudes). He was was mom's uncle and he was much nicer than my grandpa (on my mom's side). When I first saw him, I thought he was going to be mean, because his face was very scary-looking. At least I got to see him this summer before he passed away.
September 27, 2008 - Gemcraft
September 27th, 2008I've been unusually diligent with the updates lately, haven't I?
I think I'll post more random quickies to fill in the gaps between my long and blah posts about my daily life (they take so long to write that I rarely look forward to them).
First quickie: Gemcraft = black hole that sucks up my sleeping and eating time. Few flash games are this addictive! I think I've said the same for Desktop Tower Defense; both are defense (and strategy) games created in Flash.

It has so much depth; I think it'd be awesome on a handheld. I finally beat it and got all the glowing frames (but not all the amulets), so I'll finish up on the extras and then wait for the sequel.
August 8, 2008 - Peak of Summer
August 8th, 2008On my last post, I mentioned that my cousin Tony from Holland. He came weeks ago and is leaving this Sunday. We went to so many places! Off the top of my head, some of the ones we went to:
- Maryland (got some crazy sunburn on a beach here)
- Washington DC (after an hour of blistering sun, we took refuge in a bookstore for its AC)
- Empire State Building (my mom took Tony up here)
- Statue of Liberty (took pics, didn't bother with standing in long lines to go up to the statue's pedestal)
- Central Park (got sunburn here too; went with my friends)
- Times Square (went to M&M's World and others, roamed the streets)
- Madame Tussauds (took a bunch of pics with wax figures)
- Coney Island (walked around on the boardwalk)
- New York Aquarium (seal show was adorable)
- South Street Seaport (walking, sightseeing, eating)
- Bodies: The Exhibition (looked up close at preserved bodies, touched a brain at the end; best part was the babies)
- Six Flags (went on lots of roller coasters and saw lots of cute animals, even baby and pregnant ones, at the safari)
- Various clothing stores in SoHo and 34th St (well, various clothing stores all over the place in general)
We just went to Six Flags yesterday; we bought tickets at the Port Authority because we had no one to drive us. The only bad thing about it was that we had to wake up early. Other than that, the tickets were a bargain!
And, I got Mario Kart Wii and another Wii Remote. And Civilization III for the PC for $10. Great games! After I managed to unlock a bunch of stuff in MK Wii, I switched over to LoZ:TP (mentioned in in my last post) and got addicted.
When Tony leaves, that's a sign that the summer is almost over. My course schedule is fucked up, and I gotta pay my tuition in about a week.
But I must say, this summer was probably the most eventful one I've ever had. If I remember, I'll post pics!
July 12, 2008 - I got a Wii!
July 12th, 2008Okay, I admit it. I have a problem. I'm addicted to gaming. I knew it before, but now, I can feel my vision getting blurry as I play non-stop for hours every day. I think I play more than I eat and sleep combined.
This addiction was intensified with my recent purchase of the Wii. It. Is. Awesome. I can't believe I didn't get it earlier.

I've become such a Nintendo fangirl. It can't be helped; their games and systems are fun and much cheaper than Sony's.
I know I swore to get the PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4, and I will, eventually. It's just too damn expensive now and other than MGS4, there's nothing else I want as badly.
Heck, I can even wait a few more years; it's not going anywhere. I don't care if it has hours of cutscenes, not at all. I haven't even ruined myself with spoilers, that's how patient I am with this (MGS4 reveals everything about the series and concludes it).
... Back to Wii. Wii is great!
Wii Sports comes packaged with it; it's fun, but I'm not a sports person. I bought the Internet Channel for about $5, and I can watch YouTube videos on my TV! It's so cool! Once, I paused a game for way too long and got some mild screen burn-in, so I went to YouTube to get one of those stuck pixel fixers and it worked!
A few days later, I went to my usual game guy in Chinatown and bought a $130 worth of used game stuff:
Wii:
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Super Mario Galaxy
Nintendo DS:
- Advance Wars: Dual Strike
- The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
PSP:
- Metal Gear Acid 2
GameCube:
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest
- Mad Catz GameCube controller
- Memory Card
Meh, I guess this also serves as another game inventory post.
As for the GameCube ones, thank god for backward compatibility, 'cause I've always wanted a GameCube (used ones are going for $30 now! I wonder if the PS3 will ever drop this low
). The first thing I did after buying all this was, no, not playing with any of the new games, but using the GameCube controller to play Pokémon Snap (N64) on my Wii.
I am so serious; I was browsing through the Wii Shop Channel when I saw it for about $10, and I bought it, but it couldn't be played with the Wii remote so I had to wait it out till I got the GameCube controller.
I love this game so much! I played it back on my neighbor's Nintendo 64 ages ago, and I can't get enough of it. I've searched for the ROM for my computer many times as well. But now I can finally play it at last!
In Pokémon Snap, you have to go around taking pictures of Pokémon. It's that simple; no battling them or anything. I finished it in a few hours then moved on to Super Mario Galaxy.
Super Mario Galaxy made my wrists a bit sore, but that was only 'cause I was playing non-stop for hours. It's not just my thumbs that's getting a workout anymore! I'm still on it, although I've finally reached the final boss (please let me actually finish this instead of ditching it in hopes that the game will never end!).
When I'm not occupied by the Wii, it's the DS games that suck my life dry. I bought New Super Mario Bros. with me to Vietnam; it wasn't piquing my interest when I first bought it, but in Vietnam, I played it until I found every secret passage and collected every star coin. I also got hooked on Luigi's casino minigames too.
But since I played the hell out of that, of course I had to get something new, right? AW: DS is an addictive tactics game, and it's not a pushover like the Final Fantasy Tactics series. When I got stuck on one of the levels, I switched over to LoZ: PH.
I'm a bit stumped in that too, so I've finally emerged from my games after days of seclusion. I haven't played LOZ:TP yet, so I'm expecting to disappear for a while again after I get my fix of the internet.
My cousin Tony from Holland is coming tomorrow, so I plan on getting Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Kart Wii; there weren't any cheap used copies of those since they came out fairly recently, but I still want them (and another Wii remote)! I'll wait till he arrives so I can justify my purchases.
Oh, and the Miss Universe 2008 pageant in Vietnam is airing tomorrow! I'll definitely try and blog about that.
March 27, 2008 - Ga-ga-ga-games! [part 4]
March 27th, 2008It took a while, but I'm finally done! Sorry if the format is repetitive (I write "good game" and "I beat this!" a lot, but it gets my point across, doesn't it?); I wanted to get this over with already. I learned a lot about my gaming habit while keeping inventory (*cough*unfinished games*cough*), so this proved to be fruitful.
PS2 games:

February 12, 2008 - Ga-ga-ga-games! [part 3]
February 12th, 2008This post combines my NDS, PSP and PS one games since I don't have many games for each system. And I think there's a lot more bold, underlines, and italics than usual. Oops. I'm too lazy to correct it right now, sorry!
Nintendo DS games:

- Pokémon Diamond: Oh yes, I have yet another Pokémon game! I still think Gold/Silver was the best in the series. You can battle with other trainers over WiFi, but my Pokémon aren't up to the challenge yet.
It's shocking how Pokémon games seems so kiddie on the outside when there's such a complex battle system. There are numerous calculators and guides and websites dedicated to training and breeding battle-worthy Pokémon, I can't even explain it. Just take a look at this page for a simplification of battle mechanics.
It's overwhelming. But I want to battle strategically so badly!
- Animal Crossing: Wild World: I played the GameCube version so I decided to get the portable DS game. I seriously play this everyday for less than an hour or so, but only to water my flowers to keep them from dying. I want to complete my item catalog in this game too.
I guess it's become less fun and more of a chore for me, but that's because I have different goals in this game.
It's still entertaining though.
February 1, 2008 - Portal
February 1st, 2008I just finished Portal after about six hours!
It's such a short game, but since I already knew that ahead of time, I wasn't disappointed. There's still a few bonus maps, challenges, and achievements, but I'm done with the main game.
It's very fun and the dialog provided by GLaDOS is delivered in a hilariously deadpan manner, complete with computerized voice. The best thing about GLaDOS is the song "Still Alive" that she sings in the end.
Yesterday, I spent an hour or two freeing up space to install the games, but I was only able to clear up enough for Portal. It didn't say on the box that it needed so much space on my hard drive to install.
While my Mac partition has over 100 GB free on it, I only allotted 30 GB for my Windows partition through Boot Camp and it can't be adjusted.
Time to transfer more stuff over to my Mac partition! Again, it's a shame that there are so few Mac games.
